After 10 days of battling the blazes, Ukrainian firefighters have extinguished all fires within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The country's Emergencies Service made the announcement yesterday. The more than 300 firefighters were able to put out the fires before nuclear waste storage facilities in the area were compromised. Radiation levels, that were 16 times higher than usual at one point, are returning to their normal levels. Authorities have identified and arrested two individuals they believe are behind the fires.
