Chadian President Idriss Deby was killed on the frontlines of a rebel offensive today, April 20th. His son, a four-star General, has taken over as the head of a military transitional council and will lead the nation for at least 18 months.

Heavy fighting broke up between Armenia and Azerbaijan on September 26th. This follows a series of small scale clashes that erupted on July 12th of this year. Fighting is still ongoing and Azerbaijan has made considerable gains.
